San Blas Islands

The San Blas Islands are absolutely stunning — picture-perfect little islands, some inhabited, but most just dreamy stretches of sand with a few palm trees, just like the emoji: 🏝️.

It’s a protected area, so access is limited, and you won’t see many other boats around, which makes the experience feel extra special.

We spent three days sailing and fully switching off — snorkeling, kayaking, strolling on tiny islands, making cocktails, and soaking up every sunrise and sunset. We even slept on the top deck in tents (the cabins were a bit warm), and it turned out to be one of the coziest, most memorable parts of the trip.

Pure paradise, and the perfect way to disconnect.

To get there, it’s about a 3-hour drive from Panama City. Most sailing companies offer pickup and drop-off, with a few stops to stretch your legs along the way — and once you arrive, you’ll know it was worth every minute.

Sail With Mike

We sailed with Mike, who’s been exploring the San Blas Islands for years on his spacious trimaran catamaran. We felt super lucky to be the only guests on board during our trip, just us, Captain Mike, and the cook—who changes every season.

And of course, there’s Popsie, Mike’s adorable dog, who quickly became our favorite crew member. Sometimes a local islander joins too, showing us the best snorkeling spots only a true insider would know.

We loved every moment on the boat — sleeping under the stars, snacking on fresh tropical fruits, and mixing up plenty of piña coladas. Pure bliss.
